Grow Asia is pleased to share the appointment of Leandro “Dax” Gazmin as the new Executive Director of the Philippines Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture (PPSA), effective January 2026.

As Grow Asia’s country chapter in the Philippines, PPSA plays a vital role in advancing multi-stakeholder collaboration to support inclusive and sustainable agricultural development. In his new role, Dax will provide strategic leadership to strengthen partnerships across sectors, guide the implementation of PPSA’s Working Groups, and support grant-related and programmatic initiatives that benefit Filipino smallholder farmers.

A Background in Agribusiness and Development

Dax brings over a decade of experience spanning government service and development programming. He previously served for seven years at the Philippine Department of Agriculture, leading agribusiness initiatives from 2010 to 2017. He later transitioned into development work, contributing to two USAID-supported projects focused on strengthening micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

His professional journey reflects extensive engagement across food and agri-value chains, working closely with national government agencies, development partners, private sector leaders, civil society organisations, and grassroots communities. As a licensed Mechanical Engineer, Dax has consistently championed practical, scalable solutions — including early work in simplified nutrient application systems for hydroponics — with a strong focus on improving farmer productivity and livelihoods.

Priorities for the First 100 Days

Dax’s immediate priorities include strengthening PPSA’s existing partnerships and deepening coordination with public sector stakeholders. Central to this vision is ensuring that collaborative initiatives more directly benefit smallholder farmers, who remain at the heart of both PPSA and the broader Grow Asia network.

His Five-Year Vision

Looking ahead, Dax hopes to see stronger translation of collaborative initiatives into tangible, measurable impact at the grassroots level. As a multi-stakeholder platform, PPSA is well positioned to bridge the gap between policy, private sector innovation, and farmer realities — ensuring that learnings and programs developed through partnership truly empower Philippine farmers.

Strengthening the Regional Network

Dax’s appointment reinforces the strong leadership across Grow Asia’s country chapters. The shared multi-stakeholder engagement model across the region enables diverse actors — from government to business to farmer organisations — to contribute complementary strengths toward more resilient and inclusive food systems in Southeast Asia.

Grow Asia looks forward to working closely with Dax and the PPSA network to advance regional collaboration and deliver meaningful impact for farmers in the Philippines and beyond.
