John is responsible for managing Grow Asia’s Papua New Guinea Country Partnership - Grow PNG - ensuring Grow PNG’s goal is achieved through effective stakeholder partnership; connecting farmers with agribusiness, government, and civil society groups; and ensuring improved livelihoods of households within the project footprint of Markham Economic Corridor. He reports to the Grow PNG Advisory Council.
Prior to this role, John worked in the development industry as an advisor and consultant with various Australian Government Programs over the last 15 years. Most recently, John was the Lead Regional Advisor of Decentralization and Citizen Participation Partnership program based in Western Highlands Province and oversighting projects in Enga Province. Previously, John worked in British American Tobacco (PNG Ltd) for 6 years, the former PNG Banking Corporation, Pacific Finance Group, OK Tedi and Panguna Mines.
In his 15 years of development experience, John worked in human resources, corporate planning and management, law and justice, governance, service delivery, agriculture, business, and health sectors. He worked closely with political leaders, national and sub-national governments, churches, civil societies, women, youth, marginalized and disadvantaged people. John was part of the rebuilding efforts responsible in reforming the Southern Highlands Province in 2010 after the province collapsed and a state of emergency declared. In recognition, the government awarded John the Member of the Order of Logohu (ML), a distinguish PNG award. John also runs his family’s real estate business until recently.
John’s academic background is both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Commerce, Human Resources, Psychology, Development, and Masters in Strategic Management. John is currently reading for a PhD in Rural Development at the University of Papua New Guinea.
