Background:

Established by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with the ASEAN Secretariat, Grow Asia is a multi-stakeholder platform that builds field-, national- and regional-level partnerships to broker market-driven solutions that cultivate inclusive, resilient and sustainable food systems in Southeast Asia. We do this by facilitating collaboration between key players from the region’s public, private, civil society and farmer organizations around macro-level issues and the development of inclusive and sustainable agriculture value chains

 

Grow Asia is comprised of the the regional Grow Asia Secretariat in Singapore and six Country Partnerships, each supported by an in-country team. Our Country Partnership in the Philippines - which was catalyzed by Grow Asia and the Philippine Department of Agriculture in 2015 - is called the Philippines Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture (PPSA). The PPSA brings together companies, government agencies, civil society organizations, farmer groups and financial institutions to empower and link smallholder farmers to the market with the shared goal of improving farmers’ profitability and productivity while increasing the environmental sustainability of their farms.

Today, the PPSA has brings together more than 120 organizations, who collaborate through crop-based Working Groups (i.e., coffee, coconut, corn, fisheries, and vegetables) and cross-cutting Working Groups, (i.e., agri-finance, learning alliance, digital agriculture).
 

The Role:

The Communications Officer will work directly with the Partnerships Manager and closely with the Country Director and Grow Asia to develop and execute PPSA’s Communications Plan. The Communications Officer shall be prepared to manage PPSA’s communication channels and execute various information, marketing, and coordination strategies, and promote knowledge exchange among PPSA members and partners.

 

This role is an opportunity for learning and networking with national and international agribusinesses, development partners and counterpart ministries, as well as to learn from the other Grow Asia Country Partnerships across ASEAN. The Communications Officer will have the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to the sustainable development of Philippines’ agriculture sector and will gain valuable insights, networks, and experience in building an exciting member-based network.


 

Key Responsibilities:

Communications and Design

  • Co-develop and implement the PPSA Secretariat Communication Plan and Strategy in collaboration with the Partnerships Manager and Country Director.

  • With the Partnerships Manager, develop and package communication and marketing materials  including brochures, annual and event reports, newsletters, talk points, press kits to share information on the efforts and outcomes of PPSA’s partners.

  • Provide communications support including maintaining a contact list of PPSA members, sending announcements and notices, responding to specific requests from PPSA members and Working Groups.

  • Prepare the draft of progress reports and updates for submission to Grow Asia.

  • Manage PPSA’s online presence, including its website and social media accounts.

  • Explore innovative channels and platforms for information dissemination and engagement.

  • Coordinate with media partners.

 

Knowledge Management

  • Support knowledge sharing by collecting qualitative and quantitative data to chart the Working Groups’ progress on a quarterly basis. The Communications Officer will also be responsible for actively identifying and sharing Working Group developments with the PPSA network, through project profiles and case studies, among others.

  • Maintain a database of PPSA’s communication materials and publications.

  • Organize and manage knowledge and learning events.

  • Represent Grow Asia and PPSA in local and international fora.

 

Resource Mobilization

  • Work with the rest in the PPSA Secretariat in exploring resource mobilization initiatives towards financial stability and sustainability.

  • Assist in the development of proposals as part of the Secretariat’s resource mobilization efforts.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • University Degree in development communications, journalism, mass communication or any relevant field.

  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated experience in communications or corporate affairs; Experience in agriculture and/or a corporate or member-based organizational setting is preferred.

  • Excellent communications skills, including fluent written and spoken Filipino and English.

  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, geographically dispersed team.

  • Excellent eye for details and design.

  • Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office and social media management.

  • Experience in using Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro is beneficial.

  • Experience in using CRM applications such as Insightly is beneficial.

  • Experience using SurveyMonkey and Mailchimp is beneficial.

  • Experience in managing Zoom events and webinars is a plus.

  • Ability to travel when needed.
